Bring on the Rain

See that lovely emerald hue blanketing the "Heart of Dixie"? And just look at how far westward it stretches. This is not what you want to see on the weekends.
For the meteorologically-challenged readers out there...it's raining here. It's raining hard. It's going to continue raining. All day long. They say maybe as much as 2 inches by nightfall.

The wife and I decided to make a quick dash to Wal Mart and Lowe's for some necessities and go out for lunch. OK, so the Lowe's trip wasn't necessary but it's right across the street from Wal Mart. And I did have to get some wall outlet plates for my daughter's room to match her new blinds that I just installed. So it's justified...right? Right. Besides, she even mentioned buying me one of those new ZTR mowers from there. I told ya'll she was the best wife ever...didn't I? How unthoughtful of me it would be not to let her look them over and make sure of which one to buy. She is, after all, comparitive shopping for them. It's between Lowe's and a local lawn equipment dealer here in town.

I cannot tell a lie.

The mower is not for me. It's for her. She mows the grass more than I do. I'll wait while you go back and re-read that last line. *hums Jeapardy theme* Shocked? Did I not JUST tell you I had the best wife? It's true. She mows the grass around here. The majority of it anyway. We have about 2 acres and she mows everything but inside the fence around the pool in our backyard. I do it with a push mower that has a bagger on it to keep the grass clippings out of the pool. And I can do that in about 20 minutes. Then I just have to finish up the rest of my part of the work while she handles the majority of the mowing.

My yard work consists of the following:

1) Pick up all the sticks and pine cones
2) Mow and bag the grass around the pool
3) Edge the sidewalks around the pool and along driveway every other week
4) Use the weedeater to trim around everything
5) Blow off the patio and pool area and the driveway

Oh, and take her a cold beer all along. That's it. And I can do it all in an hour or so. About the same amount of time it takes her to finish up what she's doing. Tough job I have, huh? Well, someone has to do it. May as well be me.
We have come to realize that the sooner all the "home work" is handled, the sooner we can hitch up to the boat and head to the lake. So we try to get it all done either on Friday afternoons or first thing Saturday and then we are off for a day or two on the water. Whether it be just riding the boat, grilling and drinking with friends, skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, tubing or whatever else we decide to do, we always have fun.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I married my best friend. And it shows.

Oh well, let's go build a fire and pile up on the couch to watch TV for the rest of the night. Looks like it's going to be snuggling weather for a while.

Hey, I mow too! And yeah, I was under that big green blob of rain yesterday. We needed it badly, though. Our lake has been setting new record lows as each day passes & that is NOT good news, since the water isn't anywhere near any of the boat ramps anymore! Turned out sunny today. Hope you had a nice time, even with the rain.

Yep it was as rainy as crap in my neck of the woods too. Man, all this talk of grass mowing is depressing! I'm not ready to have to get back out there and cut it every week...
