Busier than.....

Bill Clinton in a sorority house after lights out.

The weekend is nearly over. And I don't even know where it went. We had a huge family gathering today here at the house and I spent all day yesterday outside getting things "presentable" while the wife took care of all the inside chores. I vacuumed the pool, edged the walkway around the pool and patio, mowed the grass, trimmed hedges, weedeated, pruned trees, etc. Get the idea now? It was an all day affair, no doubt. Last night, I just sat back and enjoyed a cooler full of beer on the patio while admiring the fruits of my labors.

Today was a madhouse from soon after getting out of bed until just a few hours ago. I had to go to the store to get all the requirements for the various foods that we planned on preparing for the get-together. Once home, I chopped, grated, diced, sliced and helped any other way I could to get things ready. Then it's outside to set up tables and chairs. By the time all of that was done, the family started showing up to let the kids swim and stuff.
My daughter is 20 years old. She doesn't scream and squeal non-stop. I don't think she ever did, even as a kid. And I'm not used to kids that do. I don't want to get used to it either. Nor do I plan to anytime soon. Don't get me wrong now. The sounds of children laughing and playing is nice. But the constant screaming for attention. The screaming to give me that back. The screaming that they are squirting me with a water gun.(Umm, One; you're in the pool. You're already wet.And two; 30 seconds ago, you were squirting them with a water gun.) Thankfully, it only lasted an hour or so before the eating started. And then only a few minutes after we finished eating. I was ready to get back into the cooler by the time they all went their own ways. The crowd later dwindled to my parents, my MIL, my cousin-in-law and her husband. No one under 38 years old and all able to speak in normal tones without screaming and squealing. It was good to get together like this but I was sure glad it was almost over. Soon, everyone was gone but the cousin-in-law. She's probably my favorite in-law of any of them. Her husband is always fun to hang with too. We go camping and fishing a lot with them and really enjoy their company. They'll be joining us for this concert next weekend. I'm really looking forward to it.
Anyway, they just left a few minutes ago. And I finally noticed how tired I was. Aren't the weekends supposed to be for R&R? Is that Rest & Relaxation? or Ripping and Running? Either way, it's over now. I'm going to take a nice hot shower, pile up in the bed next to my wife and try to stay awake long enough to watch Grey's Anatomy. But it's TiVo'ing, just in case.

I hope you all had a Happy Easter. And a good weekend overall.

Busy weekend you had there. I can relate on the squiling kids - we never did that either and to be around ones that constantly whine is annoying. Glad you had a great weekend - and yeah, R&R - for me always seems to stand for Ripping and Running!

Have a great week!

I only had one kid, and now you know. It would have sucked having two or more fighting and screaming all the frigging time. Anyway, be thankful you had the cooler to get you through it.

We have three all together, but the older 2 are way older then mine, so she's basically an only child, so it's nice.

Glad your weekend was good.

Ther is no better relaxation medicine than a cooler of beer.

My weekend was just as busy! We had one whiner over last night for a cook-out with some neighbors & I kept asking her why she was so cranky. Finally found out she had missed her nap. After the Friday & Saturday I had, I was NOT in the mood to hear it, though!

Enjoy the concert! Josh was great when he was in Dallas. Don't think I've ever seen John Conlee, but heard him on the radio over the weekend. One of those that you KNOW it's him, just by his voice.

Hope you found all the eggs!

Look at the background of the pic of John Conlee! :) It's from Billy Bob's.
