It's Tuesday Night!!!

And we all know what that means over at Justamereblog. American Idol and Nashville Star reviews and comments.

AI just went off and I'll be honest. The first round sucked. Every single one of them. They just couldn't seem to get it all together. And then, it all turned around.

Let's start with Elliot. He would never make it on Broadway with that version of the song. But giving him props, of the four, his was the best. This whole competition, his strong suit has been the songs from the likes of Tom Jones, Harry Connick, Jr. and guess who? Yep...Michael Buble. Remember a couple of weeks ago when Paula compared him to this very artist? Smart move, Elliot. I think he nailed it. Bad lyrics though. That's kinda like singing "Swing Low Sweet Chariot". But I think he's good for one more week,

Paris was next. And I'm afraid she had best have enjoyed it. She can not sing Prince. Bottom line. She needs to stick to her strengths and that's the kind of music she sang last week. The Billie Holladay type songs. Upbeat, very articulate and suited for her voice. She did OK on the second round but they said she had the MJ vibe? BS. Mary J. can get DOWN! Paris needs to be ready. I'm not sure how to say it in French, but in the good ol' South, she'd be called "odd man out". Buh-bye!

Chris was way off on all night. He later admitted to pushing himself too hard lately. I think I would have went back to the softer stuff that he wowwed everyone with a week ago. At least until his voice got better. But I think he has enough of a fanbase built on his previous nights that he has no worries. I just hope he's ready by next week because it only gets more competitive each week.

Katharine pulled a Pickler her first go-round. She slaughtered the song but at least admitted knowing it from the beginning. I was shaking my head the whole time thinking..."You need to bust a button or something to distract the judges from that song." Speaking of the "malfunction, Seacrest brought it up and the fact that millions of Americans probably rewound the show several times to that part. I, for one, am one of those Americans. Guilty as charged. (TiVo for President!!!) But she took it all in stride and laughed about it. Her second performance was great. She caught everyone off guard by not getting off the floor and I think it made them focus more. And the fact that she sang the up tempo style music that she excels at helped tremendously. That and the matching toenails, of course

Taylor had me worried from the beginning. They needed to check his blood sugar or something. But he was the old Taylor and that's what got him there and he's said 100 times that if he goes home, he'll go home being Taylor. the second song was really good. I've always liked a lot of the Beattles music. Not all, but a lot. He just has the voice to sing the older songs. He and Elliot should do a duet. Like Bing and Dean. I bet it would sound pretty damn good. He's a lock for the top 3.

Katharine, Elliot and Taylor...1-2-3. In that order. Sorry Chris fans but he just missed it tonight. And Paris is out. Time for the 2-hour finale of Nashville Star.

Edited later:
Well, I was right. Chris Young is the new Nashville Star. And he deserves it in my opinion. It was no surprise that it came down to him and Casey Rivers at the end. They've been the two lead horses from the beginning. I think the one thing that put Chris out in front was his songwriting ability. On "Original Song Night" he killed the rest with his song "Drinking Me Lonely Tonight". And as soon as it's available on iTunes, I'll have it in my library. I'm looking forward to the concert in July as well. Hopefully, I'll get to make that one. But until then, I'll just keep an ear peeled to the radios for the song. And watch Katie Cook on CMT for the latest happenings around Nanshville. She knows everything.

So this is it for the Nashville Star updates but the updates for AI will roll on for 3 more weeks at least. Ya'll keep it tuned and let me know what you think. G'night .
