Can I be one of the cool kids now?
I got it on ebay ......CHEAP!!
Apple iPod 20GB Click Wheel

I've been wanting one of these for a while now but just couldn't see paying the $230-$250 that it was going to take to get one. I was mowing grass Saturday and thinking how cool I'd look riding around with my iPod jamming my skull full of my favorite tunes. OK, actually I was bored and just wished I had a CD or mp3 player to listen to. Then the iPod came to mind. Perfect!! So the old mind went to work on how to go about procuring one. We had a function to attend Saturday night and sometime during the night, the thought popped into my head, "If you want it, you can find it on ebay." So when I get home, I log in, set up an ebay and PayPal account. I was setting on ready to find "it". I found a few that were closing out within an hour or so. Keep in mind, this is my maiden voyage on the ebay wagon. I'm looking at this auction price and it's like $75 with only 25-30 minutes left to close. Well, boy howdy!! Ain't this ebay just the way to go!?!? Bargains behind every link!! And just about then, every time I refreshed the page, the bids were climbing and quickly. I bid once right at the last minute, with the current bid at $125. I tossed $135 in the pot and as soon as I refreshed, it was over. SOLD!! .... to someone else...for $138.48. DAMMIT!!
I was a little pissed but thought, "Hey, to save $100, I'll sit here til the next one sells."
Roughly an hour or so later, I lost yet another bid. I bid $140 and it sold for just over that. "Screw it! I'm going to bed."
Sunday dawns bright and I get up and browse a few blogs, post on my own and then head on over to the trading floor. Same seller from last night has several more iPods for sale. Auctions closing about every hour or so. So I set about watching the time tick off.
First one to close - $178. No thanks, you can have that one, dude.
Second one up - $150+. Still a deal, but more than I wanted to give at this point. Remember, I had just watched a couple sell last night for less than $150, so I know they can be had for less.
I take a break and go grab some breakfast for me and the wife. Come back around 10:30 or so and check out what's going on. I log onto Yahoo Messenger and find No One lurking around and strike up a convo with her. She gives me a few pointers on bidding on them. She used to shop ebay frequently, according to her. I won't tell what she used to buy though. =)
To get to the meat of the story, I bid on (and lost) 3 or 4 more while she and I chatted. And finally, about 4PM or so (I think), I bid $150 with about 20 seconds left on a current bid of $144 and someone outbid me with $153.50 before ebay had even registered my bid. So I slapped a buck-fifty-five on that ass with about 7 seconds left, refreshed the page and guess what????
I won!
Booyah!! Thank God and Netopia for Hi-Speed DSL!! Even after tax and shipping it was only $176.79. I still managed to save about $50-$60 overall. I'm well pleased.
So now, I'm waiting on Buster Brown (UPS) to bring it to me. Reckon they'd let Dale Jarrett race the truck just this once? Get my new iPod on over here?
The ad says this thing will hold up to 5000 songs. 5000! Sheesh. I just checked my iTunes account and I have a whopping 233 songs in my library (865.4MB), with a few of those having been ripped from OTC CD's. I don't see a real threat anytime soon of running out of disc space on it. No One told me that she has a 40GB Click wheel and it's half full. That's about 20GB. Maybe Dale could swing by her house on the way and let her load it up for me? I want to thank her for her help on this, too. She told me how to be sneaky with the bidding. =D
So what can brown do for me? Get me my damn iPod before Friday, that's what!! I'm ready to be cool like all the rest of ya'll.
PS. I wonder if it will help me dance like the guys and girls on the commercials? Hmmm....

Oh I love my IPOD. I have a 40GB also. You'd be surprised how quick you can fill them if you're a music junkie with lots of CD's and like you a I-Tunes card. :-) Enjoy !!! Cutting grass goes by soo quick..
I'm not sure if dancing while mowing is one of the healthier things to do. It's hard to be cool walking with a bad limp. :)
Enjoy the new toy.
Glad I could be of uh, service, to help ya get such a good deal. ;)
Congrats on the purchase and the bidding education. Bidding on Ebay is something I've never done....sound like it can be a bit frustrating though!
Not frustrating, addicting!!! =)
