The countdown is on...

In less than 12 hours, I hope to be living out a few of the lyrics from one of my favorite Kenny Chesney songs:

Want a towel on a chair in the sand by the sea
Want to look thru my shades and see you there with me
Want to soak up life for a while
In laid back mode
No boss, no clock, no stress, no dress code

No shoes, no shirt, no problems
Blues? What blues? Hey, I forgot them
The sun and the sand and a drink in my hand with no bottom
and no shoes, no shirt, and no problems

Babe lets get packed..tank tops and flip flops if u got them
No shoes, no shirt, no problems
No problems.

The wife and I are planning to hitch out early in the morning heading to Destin, FL. It's less than 2 hours from here to the beach so we can be there in time for breakfast if we want to. We are just going for the day but we'll have a bag packed just in case. The spontaneity of just grabbing a room and crashing (or doing other things) can be fun as hell. And I know it's not truly spontaneous if you already have a bag packed but that's OK too. Hey, I was a Boy Scout so preparedness is ingrained into my character from now on so quit hatin'.

I know we're going to Harry T's Boathouse for lunch. We've both been craving some of their "famous" smoked tuna dip. I haven't had any since last summer. We got together with another couple, took the top off the Jeep and rode down there just to eat lunch and then drove home. It was pretty fun.

After lunch, I'd kinda like to walk up the hill to AJ's and listen to a little "saltwater music" while we sip a beer or two. Or maybe even a drink with one of those little umbrellas in it. But that's too much planning for now. What good is a getaway with an itinerary?

I'm just ready to go do something...anything...that doesn't involve kids, phones or unannounced visitors. Some quality time alone with her. Maybe a bit of silent conversation. Spoken in the way of her just touching my hand, never saying a word and me replying by simply stroking her wrist or massaging that little web between her thumb and forefinger, no words needed. Enough said right there. If you're lucky enough to know what I mean, I'm proud for you. If you're not, well...I hate that you're missing out.

See ya'll when I get back!
