Deer - 1 Me - 0

The first round of the season opener fell in the favor of the quarry. Saturday morning, I had a "gimme" shot at a doe as she passed by my stand at about 8-10 yeards. But as I drew my bow, my elbow brushed the strap of my safety harness. She heard it and stopped behind a tree, offering no chance for a shot. She stood there for about 45 seconds trying to figure out what the noise was and exactly where it came from. She decided not to chance it and turned and went back the way she had come. She never really spooked but just seemed a little nervous as she trotted back up the hill. I sat there another 3 hours and saw nothing but a bunch of birds anda couple of squirrels.
I didn't go Saturday afternoon as I had a big wedding to attend. And I don't say "big" lightly. It was a huge event. I took a few pictures just to show you what I mean. I'll post them later. We stayed at the after-party until about 1AM and I didn't quite feel like going hunting this morning. But I'm heading out in about an hour though. Maybe I'll have a worthwhile update for you shortly.

Update:
I didn't see any deer this afternoon but I did have a visit from an armadillo that refused to go away. He just hung around my stand digging and scratching and basically raising a ruckus. After about 10 minutes, I decided I'd just fire a warning shot to scare him away. Oops! Sorry about that, Mr. 'Dillo. But enjoy the new ventilation.

Betcha - Hopefully, I'll get another chance. I still have several more weekends to hunt and I haven't even been to my "honey-hole" yet. And it was actually an attic vent, not a sunroof. ;)

Bo - I shoot a McPherson Solo-Lite

So what you're saying is that you had squirrel & armadillo stew for dinner? One of these days I'll have time to post the pics of the Texas armadillos I saw last week!
