Rain, Rain, Go away.

Come again some other.... month.

It's been raining for about 15 hours now and I'm ready for it to move on out. I'm wanting to hit the woods this afternoon. I went hunting yesterday morning before the rains set in and did a little extra scouting after leaving my stand. I ran across what appears to be a very promising location. There's only a month of hunting season left and I want to spend a good bit of that month in this new spot. I plan on setting up my trail camera in the area this afternoon or tomorrow so maybe I'll have a better idea of what's moving through there. The rut (breeding season) is kicking in and the bucks are becoming a lot more active, thus making them more vulnerable. The weather for the next few days is supposed to be cool and clear and that's ideal hunting weather. Maybe I'll have the chance to go again tomorrow afternoon. I have an annual "New Year's Day Men's Breakfast" to attend at a neighbor's house at 8:30 in the morning so going hunting won't be possible beforehand.

The debate is still on for the evening's plans. It's between a bonfire/cookout at one place or dinner with friends at their house followed by a party at the local country club. The radar shows the rain is almost gone but a bonfire will surely be a muddy mess after the recent amounts of rainfall. But it is outside and there will be no annoying cigarette smoke to deal with. The country club is almost within walking distance so the trip home afterwards would be short and simple. The bonfire is about 15 miles away. Pros and cons to each so we may just use the infallible stand-by method of.....the coin-flip.

Whatever your plans are for the evening, I hope they are safe and enjoyable. Have fun and hopefully, I will see you all back here in 2007.

Best wishes and Happy New Year.

Happy New Year! Hope you had fun, whichever side of the coin was chosen.

And how in the world do they expect you to be at breakfast that early after staying out partying all night?
