Who needs Bob?
Bob Vila, that is. I know some of you were already raising your hands. I didn't mean that Bob.
I just completed yet another home improvement project. That's 2 in less than a month. Maybe I should get my own TV show or something. The weekend before Thanksgiving, I replaced the laminate edgebanding around the kitchen countertops with wood trim. See?

That top right corner you see up there? It used to be a radius corner, or rounded. I had to cut it off straight to make the trim fit. I had 3 more corners on another countertop that had to be cut too. Can you say "nervous"? If I had messed either of those up, it would have meant replacing the whole countertop. Luckily, it worked out like I had
Today's project was one that I have been meaning to do almost since we bought the place. This is the lavatory faucet in our master bath. I hate faucets like this.

I have always hated them. I've already replaced the one that was in the other bathroom when we remodeled it a couple of years ago. And replacing this one was one of those things that I kept waiting to get a round tuit. It started dripping a little not too long ago when the handle was returned to the "off" position, but would stop if you moved the handle just a little left of center. Simple enough remedy until I got a round tuit, right? Well guess what I found today? This .
And with that rare find combined with about an hour of working in close quarters

(and now Blogger has decided it doesn't want to host that particular pic. WTF? I guess that's why it's always good to have a backup plan)
I'm much more pleased with this one than the old one. And as simple as it was to do, I probably need my ass beat for not doing it sooner. I will admit to reconnecting the "hot" and "cold" supply lines backwards because I didn't pay attention when I disconnected them as to which was which. The plumbing is stubbed out of the end wall, not directly underneath the faucet and the valves are one above the other, not side-by-side like they usually are. So the "hot on the left, cold on the right" thing was not applicable in my case. But it only took about 5 minutes to fix that little problem.
I'll be replacing the faucets in the kitchen next. And I think the next project after that is wood laminate flooring in the den. My knees will love me for that one. Anyone feeling generous?
Hmmm...maybe having Bob Vila over for a while isn't such a bad idea.

When you get thru with that round tuit, can I borrow it for a while?
