Right place. Right time.

Getting up early isn't always a bad thing. If I had slept for 5 more minutes on Friday morning, I would have missed this altogether:
Same camera setting, 45 seconds after the first pic was taken:

30 seconds after this pic and the sky looked "ordinary" again. I suppose timing really is everything.

I know how trying to capture those shots feels, and the beauty you witnessed far exceeds even the photos...

however, absolutely GORGEOUS pic and such a wonderful point... timing.

When my daughters went out to wait for the bus that morning, the sun was still touching the horizon (but just barely) & it was redder than I've ever seen it. It was truly beautiful - the opposite of today's skies!
